Michael Caine allows ElevenLabs to create AI version of his voice

Over 25 other iconic voices are available in the company's Iconic Marketplace, including those of Dr Maya Angelou, Alan Turing, Liza Minelli, and Art Garfunkel

Sir Michael Caine has signed a deal with AI audio company ElevenLabs to allow it to make a virtual replication of his voice.

Caine is among the actors who have agreed to allow ElevenLabs to use their voices as part of the company’s Iconic Marketplace, a curated platform where companies can request access to well-known voices for use in their projects and content.

According to the company, over 25 other iconic voices are available, including those of Dr Maya Angelou, Alan Turing, Liza Minelli, and Art Garfunkel.

“With ElevenLabs, we can preserve and share voices—not just mine, but anyone’s,” said Sir Michael. “ElevenLabs is at the very forefront of technology, using innovation not to replace humanity, but to celebrate it. ElevenLabs gives everyone the tools to be heard. It’s not about replacing voices; it’s about amplifying them, opening doors for new storytellers everywhere. I’ve spent a lifetime telling stories. ElevenLabs will help the next generation tell theirs.”

“We’re thrilled to introduce the Iconic Marketplace, a true breakthrough for ethical sourcing and licensing of celebrity content,” added Mati Staniszewski, CEO and co-founder of ElevenLabs.

“It demonstrates how AI can responsibly expand opportunities for studio and talent, while enhancing storytelling. We’re especially excited to welcome Sir Michael Caine to the platform. He is an iconic creator and voice whose cultural and artistic consequence we hope will only be further championed through this platform.”

ElevenLabs has revealed Oscar-winner Matthew McConaughey has invested in the company, although how much has not been announced.

McConaughey has collaborated with ElevenLabs since it was founded in 2022, and is to start using the company’s technology to bring a Spanish-language audio version of his newsletter Lyrics of Livin’ in his own voice.

“It’s been amazing to see the growth from those early days to where the company, and the technology, is now,” he said. “What’s remained constant is the extraordinary storytelling capabilities and creative potential that ElevenLabs unlocks—something that stood out to me from the start and that speaks to me as a professional storyteller.”
