Workflow conference case studies unveiled12 October 2010
The extensive programme for TVBEurope’s second IT Broadcast Workflow conference at BAFTA in London on November 30, 2010 is coming together rapidly thanks to the involvement of leading European broadcasters.
The Conference is a unique opportunity to learn from a variety of European broadcasters how they have incorporated file-based operation into their businesses across the chain, from ingest to delivery.
This is not a theoretical discussion or white paper debate; rather a packed day of dedicated end-user case studies on the migration of television broadcasting production and technology from videotape to IT platforms.
IT-based production requires a change in infrastructure and the way people in TV operations work. To our knowledge there is no other event in the international broadcast calendar that provides a real-life platform for discussion of these critical current issues.

In 2009 the NDR in Hamburg rolled out new workflows for network- and file- based production. Parallel and more effective workflows provide for more programme output, and one technical system can be used for all workflows and all programme genres. An overall concept for metadata (from planning to playout) was thus developed. A fully integrated file-based archive enables users to work with video material from the (long term) archives as well as up-to-date (news) material quickly and easily at any time.
