VRT manages music with NOA13 June 2011
Belgian broadcaster VRT, faced with a music library of over 150,000 CDs, has turned to NOA Audio Solutions for an ingest and asset management solution. The resulting system, based on NOA’s MediaArc technology, will automatically encode the CDs as well as build the database allowing users to search through millions of titles. The order includes several NOA IngestLine CD-Lector migration devices. These are high volume, semi-automated ingest workstations that extract the audio from CDs and metadata from online services. The algorithms included in the software allow it to automatically repair damaged content to ensure the best possible quality. As well as archiving and preservation, the project also includes 10 client licences to allow users to find search the library and retrieve content. CRT emphasised that one of the core advantages of the NOA solution was that it was a proven, off the shelf product.“NOA’s unique knowledge of archiving and search best practices will help make it possible for users to find what they are looking for in our database for years to come, even with millions of entries to chose from,” said Tom Caijon, the VRT project manager for Muziekbeheer (music management).
