Leading Swiss production company TPC is creating new efficiencies for its clients by developing a file-transfer network in collaboration with Signiant. TPC is Switzerland’s largest provider of production and post production services for broadcast and corporate clients, and has now built a value-added service incorporating Signiant Media Manager.

“Based on Signiant, we are able to offer a service that gives our clients the peace of mind that their valuable content will arrive safely when and where it is supposed to,” said Andreas Lattmann, engineering project manager at TPC. He contrasted that with other businesses who still rely on tape shipments for video content exchange, suggesting that the Signiant distribution network was significantly more secure and reliable.

“Beyond the competitive advantage, the Signiant service is also helping our operation run more efficiently and deliver content in highly time-intensive situations,” Lattmann said.

While TPC serves a broad range of clients in broadcasting, events and premium corporate work, its largest single client is the national broadcaster SRF. Delivering content by tape, often from mountain locations, was fraught.

The new installation is centred on TPC’s headquarters in Zurich. Signiant manager agents use exclusive content peering technology to enable automated transfers of large batches of files, providing authentication, authorisation and encryption of the transfers to ensure secure delivery.

In a typical workflow, the client transfers raw video files to TPC for post. Finished output can be delivered over the same network in a fraction of the time previously required, without the need to install editing facilities on site.
