MOG and axle Video have teamed up to deliver integrated solutions combining MOG’s mxfSPEEDRAIL Xpress ingest appliance with axle Video’s Gear media management and transcode appliance. GearStack, the integrated solutions, occupies 2RU of height, and less than 12in of depth.

GearStack solutions offers a module or portable field pack that can capture and manage any combination of HD, SD and file-based formats. Larger deployments can harness several such modules, all connected to a common pool of shared storage. Both MOG and axle feature a browser-based user interface accessible by multiple users on Macs, PCs or iPads.

“We’re delighted that MOG, with such a strong track record at so many of the world’s top broadcasters, has agreed to partner with us to create the integrated GearStack offering,” said Sam Bogoch, CEO of axle Video. “Both our companies strongly believe that the appliance model with browser-based front-ends is the preferred way of delivering broadcast-quality capabilities to a wider range of deployments.”

Each GearStack configuration includes one axle Gear media management and transcode appliance, plus one or more MOG mxfSPEEDRAIL Xpress ingest appliances. With a standard web browser, ingests can be monitored as they occur, and ingested material is logged through the mxfSPEEDRAIL Xpress user interface. Using the same browser, users can search and browse the material, or launch Telestream transcoding through the axle Gear user interface.

Rui Pereira, COO of MOG, said “As the use of HD video formats, content creation and distribution spread much more widely around the world, here is a clear need for affordable, appliance-style solutions in what was once a very limited, high end market. We are excited to partner with axle Video to create a compact system that does what once took entire racks of space and hundreds of thousands of dollars to accomplish.”
