Thales Angénieux wins CINEC Award

Thales Angénieux’s Optimo 45-120mm zoom lens has been honored by the Society for cineTechnik Bayern e.V. (CTB) with a CINEC Award for outstanding innovation in optics. Denny Clairmont, co-founder of Clairmont Camera, presented the award to Pierre Andurand, CEO and president of Thales Angénieux. “This lens is amazing. The focal range of this lens is long enough for close-ups and light enough to be used on a hand-held,” said Clairmont. “Directors of Photography can get their shots without being in the actor’s space and this makes it more comfortable for the actors.” The CINEC Award presentations were held at a gala reception at the Munich’s Residence. In total 47 applications for CINEC Awards were received and nine were presented. “We are especially delighted by the CINEC Award because it recognises and appreciates the technical challenges we faced in designing this lens, and because this recognition is obtained in a country (Germany) renowned for high quality and precision products,” said
