Social media to the fore2 September 2010
A clutch of sessions on Thursday and throughout the IBC Conference look at the new landscape that social media and domestic interconnectedness are shaping. The day starts with the fascinating Going social: the implications and opportunities of interactive media session, which features presentations from the renowned Fraunhofer Institute, Japan’s NTT Communications and interactive user experience specialists ruwido, all of which will look at the new ways in which viewers can choose to consume media. Social media: Look who’s talking now meanwhile looks at the implications of the emergence of triple-screen entertainment, where viewers augment their TV experience via social networking applications on computers and mobiles.
One of the main streams of this year’s Conference looks at Technology Advancements. Again, several sessions tie into the theme of the newly emerging connected landscape, with sessions looking at advancements in IPTV and VoD, the impending ‘merger’ of broadband and TV, and Mobile TV (a technology that is starting to really fulfil the promise of several years ago) amongst other things. Elsewhere, stereoscopic 3D is an undoubted draw, as are sessions looking at the latest cutting edge technologies being deployed in the electronic entertainment space, and new techniques for enhancing both production and post production workflows.
Don’t be a fail whale. See what social media can do for you. The Conference Programme has full details.
