SMPTE shows support for TVBEurope conferences in 2013

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) has signed up as a supporter of TVBEurope’s Beyond HD Masters and IT Broadcast Workflow conferences to be held at BAFTA on 11 June and 9 July respectively.

SMPTE was founded in 1916 to advance theory and development in the motion imaging field. Today, SMPTE publishes ANSI-approved Standards, Recommended Practices, and Engineering Guidelines, along with the highly regarded SMPTE Journal and its peer-reviewed technical papers. SMPTE holds conferences and local Section meetings to bring people and ideas together, allowing for useful interaction and information exchange.

SMPTE members are spread throughout 64 countries worldwide. Over 200 Sustaining (institutional) Members belong to SMPTE, allowing networking and contacts to occur on a larger scale. Touching on every discipline, SMPTE members include engineers, technical directors, cameramen, editors, technicians, manufacturers, designers, educators, consultants and field users in networking, compression, encryption and more.

Held on 11 June, Beyond HD Masters follows the successful series of HD and 3D Masters conferences from TVBEurope that helped to chart and forecast the maturation of HD and 3D in the broadcast market.

Beyond HD Masters 2013 asks the question: what’s next on the horizon for European broadcast TV? If high definition is the new standard definition, then what’s beyond HD? Is 4K the next target for high-end TV production, broadcast and display? And what role for 3D in the future – niche curiosity or mass acceptance?

The following month on 9 July, IT Broadcast Workflow, now in its fifth year, is dedicated to change management, greater operational efficiency, multiple platform delivery and business process management improvement in television broadcasting.

Delegate places are now open for both conferences. Visit the dedicated conference microsites for the latest agendas and to book tickets.
