SGO Mistika supports Dolby Vision

Dolby Vision technology is now supported by SGO’s colour grading and finishing platform, Mistika, enabling the display of high dynamic range (HDR) images with wider colour gamut capabilities. SGO, working in collaboration with Dolby, will look to make the Dolby Vision workflow capabilities available in Mistika from version 8.2, which was previewed at NAB and is due for release shortly after IBC 2014.

“Our goal at SGO is to look forward and analyse which upcoming technologies will best enable our customers to grow their businesses,” commented SGO’s CEO Miguel Angel Doncel. “We then aim to bring complete workflows incorporating those technologies to market first, so that our customers have the upper hand over their competitors.”

Dolby Vision aims to help content creators and television manufacturers deliver true-to-life brightness, colours and contrast by augmenting the fidelity of UHD and HD video signals for OTT online streaming, broadcast and gaming applications.

Roland Vlaicu, senior director, broadcast imaging, Dolby Laboratories, added: “Creative teams using SGO’s Mistika can embrace the full gamut of colours, peak brightness and local contrast available with Dolby Vision. Films and TV shows will look more like the real world, and viewers will notice details that might have previously gone unseen.”
