Scratch Six, Scratch Lab available for Mac and Windows

20 July 2011

Assimilate’s Scratch Six, a new version of Assimilate’s flagship DI system, and Scratch Lab, its ‘digital lab’ tool designed to meet the requirements of on-location workflows and VFX dailies pipelines, are now available for both Mac OS X and Windows 7 platforms, writes Carolyn Giardina.

Assimilate announced its strategy to introduce both Scratch products for a variety of applications in April.

Scratch Six, which lists for $17,995, is aimed at all types of 2D and 3D digital cinema and broadcast productions. Assimilate reported that it is capable of handling a range of resolutions including 5K and higher.

New features in Scratch Six include a multilayer timeline, advanced tracking and keying technology for colour grading and VFX workflows, enhanced 3D stereo tools and paint tools, and extended input/output format support.

The new Scratch Lab—which lists for $4,995—includes tools for review, versioning, colour correction, conform and deliverables of dailies created during production or the VFX process. Assimilate reported that like Scratch Six, Scratch Lab is designed to support 2D and 3D stereo projects, as well as to exceed 5K resolution.

According to Assimilate, Scratch Lab supports RAW camera formats, and carries scene, take, audio and 3D stereo convergence metadata through the project.
