RTS announces shortlist for Craft and Design Awards 2014-2015

The Awards, spread over 27 categories, recognise the huge variety of skills and processes involved in programme production

The Royal Television Society (RTS) has announced the shortlist for the RTS Craft and Design Awards 2014-2015. The Awards, spread over 27 categories, recognise the huge variety of skills and processes involved in programme production. In addition there are three Awards given at the discretion of the Jury Chairs: Design and Craft Innovation, Judges’ and Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Cilla, The Eichmann Show, Fortitude, The Keith Lemon Sketch Show, Pets – Wild At Heart and Wolf Hall have all picked-up three nominations. ITV’s Cilla will battle it out in the categories for Effects – Digital, Production Design – Drama and Costume Design – Drama, where it will be up against The Eichmann Show. The Eichmann Show has also been nominated for Director – Fiction and Editing – Picture Enhancement.

Fortitude and Wolf Hall both hope to triumph in the Sound – Drama category. Fortitude will also compete in the Design – Titles and Effects – Special categories, while Wolf Hall is up for Drama awards in Editing and Photography.

The Keith Lemon Sketch Show leads the way in Entertainment and Non Drama Productions with nominations for Costume Design, Make-Up Design and Production Design. Strictly Come Dancing also appears on the Entertainment and Non Drama Productions nominations list again having been nominated in the Costume Design category for the fourth year in a row. The programme is also up for an award in Make-Up Design.

In the new Directors – Fiction category Alice Troughton (Cucumber), Paul Andrew Williams (The Eichmann Show) and Julian Farino (Marvellous) will fight it out for the accolade while Colette Camden (What Do Artists Do All Day? Sue Wester), Edward Watts (Escape From ISIS) and Dan Edge (Outbreak: The Truth About Ebola) are nominated for the Director – Non-Fiction award.

Pets – Wild At Heart, the two part series for BBC One, also triumphs in the non-fiction genre with nominations in three categories: Editing – Documentary & Factual, Music – Original Score and Photography – Documentary/Factual & Non Drama.

The RTS Craft and Design Awards are chaired by Cheryl Taylor, controller of CBBC. The winners will be announced at a ceremony, hosted by comedian Susan Calman, on Monday 30 November 2015 at the London Hilton Park Lane.
