For the first time outside France, the New Livebox from Orange, powered by the company’s SOP7 software, is being demonstrated by SoftAtHome.

With SOP7, the New Livebox – which is Orange’s first plug-and-play device – becomes the digital heart of the house to transform living rooms into cinemas, claimed SoftAtHome. Features include Ultra HD/4K programs with next generation audio, apps and digital home services, extended WiFi, a plug and play NAS server, the latest security features and over 300 games.

Installation is said to involve simply connecting the device to the network and confirming one link with one SMS: the rest is automatic. It has been deployed in France since May 2016. The work done by SoftAtHome on the Orange Livebox saw the company shortlisted for this year’s CSI

Awards in the Best Customer Premise Technology category. SoftAtHome was also shortlisted for the Best IoT Product award for its CloudAtHome IoT solution. Also at IBC, the company is providing a preview of SOP8, which it said addresses virtual reality, immersive 4K TV experience or full convergence of services. This would, it claimed, enable operators to bring together a broad array of access technologies, the best of CPEs and cloud solutions, digital home services and IoT applications.

The company also has a demonstration of what it describes as a VR/360 immersive experience.
