Object Matrix has announced the sale of a MatrixStore cluster and Interconnect, the Interplay archive plugin, to Soho-based Directors Cut Films. The company has embraced new technologies in order to meet the demands of an ever-changing landscape, within the field of HD production workflows.

"With more of our client’s projects being file-based from ingest to delivery we have been keeping an eye on the broadcast technology market for integrated solutions that allow us to build secure, cost effective and repeatable workflows,"  stated Andy Nicholson, technical director at Directors Cut. “MatrixStore from Object Matrix provides us with a trusted storage platform that not only integrates into our current workflow but also has the ability to hook into any future technology platforms we implement.”

The 60TB MatrixStore solution purchased by Directors Cut will be implemented into an Avid Interplay workflow with content transferred to and from the MatrixStore nearline platform using the InterConnect archive plugin. The complete storage workflow has been supplied by Object Matrix and Avid partner Tyrell. “Many of our customers are faced with similar challenges and MatrixStore complements the online storage providing fast, secure overflow as projects demand,” commented Martin Bennett, commercial director, Tyrell.

Gavin Emery, account manager at Object Matrix, added: “We are thrilled to be working with Mark, Andy and the team at Directors Cut. Having discussed the many challenges of implementing file-based workflows with them we are proud that they chose Object Matrix to provide the secure nearline tier of storage.”
