Nimbra contributes to Athletic World Championships

Net Insight’s Nimbra platform has been chosen for live video production feeds for the IAAF Athletic World Championships starting this weekend in Korea, writes David Fox.

Nimbra has been used on many of the biggest sporting events, such as last month’s FINA Swimming World Championships, the FIFA World Cup 2010 and the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and offers users real-time, lossless transportation that can distribute live feeds with 100% quality of service.

A Nimbra 680 (pictured) is in place at the master control room and event presentation room and live streams will also be distributed to and displayed on the big screen in the arena without delay. It features up to 80 Gbps fully redundant, non-blocking switching and eight interface slots for traffic modules. A 2RU Nimbra 340-HD is being used to distribute HD-SDI feeds from the finish photo room to the Outside Broadcast production vans.

"We really need no delay in our broadcasting system during the games," said Sang-Bok Yoo of the IAAF2011 Daegu organization, responsible for outside broadcasting.

"SanAm Technology [Net Insight’s local partner] had presented us with the Nimbra platform to be able to provide real-time contribution/distribution without jitter or delay, and this is what we required. Net Insight has already proven their stability and functionality through several international sporting events, so I appreciate and trust that this will work well for us and we can expect a very successful broadcast of the IAAF2011 in Daegu, Korea."
