New Harris TV transmission products

Harris Corporation is extending its transmission portfolio for terrestrial TV broadcasters by introducing three new products at NAB which provide diverse options for digital transition and offer better market coverage for low-power and mobile broadcasters. The new Maxiva UAX Compact Class (pictured) is an air cooled UHF transmitter which enables terrestrial TV and mobile DTV broadcasters to boost over-the-air services, designed to extend market coverage in challenging scenarios such as busy urban areas. It features Harris’ Powersmart technology and its full range of Harris transmission solutions, including translators/transposers and SFN gap-fillers with adaptive echo cancellation, allows DTV broadcasters to cover their markets. Also new from Harris are the Apex MX2 exciter IP and satellite receiver modules. The new exciter technology supports global digital standards in almost every Harris TV transmitter, and its modular architecture enables simple expansion to drive new transmission solutions. The new modules include an IP input for ASI streams which allows the user to manage the interface while retaining existing backup ports in native ASI transport stream formats; and a new DVB-S/DVB-S2 satellite receiver module which allows broadcasters to download satellite content and feed it directly into the exciter. Harris will also exhibit an example of its new range of Outdoor Transmission Enclosures for non-traditional broadcast transmission sites. Constructed of steel or aluminium, they provide pre-built solutions for high-power broadcasters by adding repeater sites to improve market coverage and low-power broadcasters that rely on shared sites or single-frequency networks. Stand N2502
