New hardware bundle for Skype TX24 September 2014
A new hardware and software bundle combining Microsoft’s Skype TX with Quicklink’s encoding hardware was unveiled at IBC2014.
To be sold by Quicklink as Quicklink TX the new development will allow TV producers to improve the way that the popular freemium voice over IP service is used in professional studio environments.
Quicklink chief executive Richard Rees said: “We see the new TX product as a natural addition to our current product range which is in line with our common goal: to help producers, technical directors, writers and editors to produce the best content possible by capturing the highest quality broadcast results from anywhere around the world.”
The new Quicklink TX hardware is loosely based on the Quicklink Encoder technology.
Skype TX, which is available on approved partner hardware platforms, combines full-frame Skype video with audio via SDI. A single operator can control multiple channels of Skype TX to produce calls with a direct HD-HDI Skype feed into a graphics package.
“We are excited to be selected as a global partner with the remit of bringing this product to market under our Quicklink brand, which is testament to the reputation we have built up within the broadcast industry over the past 11 years,” added Rees.
