Miranda takes Manhattan

Miranda takes Manhattan

One of New York’s busiest studio complexes, Manhattan Center Studios, has installed Miranda multiviewers for its newly rebuilt control rooms. TV1 and TV2 have been updated and now feature the new monitor walls. TV1 uses a Miranda Kaleido-X, which is driven by the Grass Valley Trinix router and Jupiter control system. Tallies are passed through the Trinix from the Grass Valley Kayenne production switcher to manage displays and idents on the monitor wall. The Kaleido-X feeds eight 52-inch LCD monitors – seven in production control and one in the audio room. The slightly smaller studio 2 has a similar infrastructure, this time with three Kaleido X-16 multiviewers feeding six 46-inch LCD monitors. “TV1 and TV2 are the centrepieces of a major, iconic renovation that we believe incorporates the best of modern HD technology and infrastructure,” said Marvin Williams, director of engineering and operations at Manhattan Center Studios. “The Miranda multiviewers tie it all together by giving our operators total visibility of our facility, which is absolutely crucial given the constant stream of high profile events produced here.”
