The IABM Training Academy, together with the UK's Information and Communication Technologies Knowledge Transfer Network, is offering 50 technical training bursaries in broadcast and media technology, writes David Fox.

The bursaries will be awarded over the next 12 months. Applications are open to anyone who works and resides in the UK and is either an IABM (International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers) member or has signed up for free membership with ICT KTN.

"This collaboration between the IABM and ICT KTN continues our joint efforts to broaden technical engagement in the broadcast and media technology sector, and is part of our rollout of activities associated with the IABM Lifelong Learning Manifesto," said Peter White, director general of the IABM. The manifesto seeks to foster industry-wide action in addressing issues associated with lifelong learning in the broadcast and media technology field.

"Broadcasting technology is a flagship sector of the UK's ICT economy, and we're delighted that we can stimulate and support technical education through the IABM Training Academy," added Philip Hargrave, CEO of the ICT KTN.

Successful applicants for the 50 scholarships will be able to enroll in a free two-day training course run by the IABM Training Academy. Application criteria are set out on the IABM website at www.theiabm.org/trainingbursaries.
