London post house tackles loudness with RTW

Distributor Aspen Media has supplied an RTW TouchMonitor TM9 to Suite, a post-production facility located in Newman Street in London’s Soho. The post house has purchased the TM9 to meet new programme delivery requirements for Sky Television which include the EBU R128 loudness standard.

The TM9 was provided with multi-channel capability, as well loudness and SPL measurement. It will be operated by sound engineers Simon Wright and Matt Baird in Suite’s 5.1 Pro Tools studio.

Chief engineer Jim Merrett first encountered the TouchMonitor at IBC2010. Subsequently, Suite borrowed a unit for a week and was “particularly impressed by its flexibility. We could arrange the instruments as we wanted them on the screen and we liked the idea that we could upgrade with extra audio measurement tools as and when we needed them. But right now it’s the loudness monitoring that’s essential to us.”

Suite, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, specialises in comedy programmes, including Not Going Out and Mock the Week.
