Joop Janssen appointed as CEO, EVS Broadcast Equipment23 May 2012
EVS Broadcast Equipment has appointed Joop Janssen (pictured) as managing director and CEO of the company – Matt Danilowicz is the replacement CEO at Vitec Videocom, a role Janssen has held since 2003. Janssen has over 25 years of experience in the broadcast video, professional audio and telecommunications equipment industries. He recently served as chief executive of the Vitec Videocom division on the Executive Board of the Vitec Group. During his nine years with Vitec Videocom he was the architect behind its significant profitable growth and brand expansion. Prior to that he was VP and general manager of Phillips Broadcast (formerly BTS) North America where he was instrumental in the successful divestment to Thomson Multimedia and the subsequent acquisition of the Grass Valley Group. He has held senior and executive management positions including those at Philips Electronics Digital Networks in France and Philips Business Electronics in the Netherlands.

EVS will certainly benefit from his experience of managing different companies in different cultures, his deep knowledge of the broadcast industry and his strong personality. We are really keen to have Joop on board with us.” Originally from the Heerlen-Maastricht region (NL), Janssen is currently based in the UK. He will start officially at EVS on 3 September and will relocate to Belgium. He shall formally become managing director after a general meeting of shareholders to be held at the end of August 2012.
Taking over the helm at Vitec Videocom, Danilowicz will be based at US-based rental and services company Bexel’s head office in Los Angeles. Within Vitec Videocom, Danilowicz was CEO of Clear-Com for five years until 2010, and at the beginning of 2012 he returned to head Bexel. Alongside his appointment as divisional CEO, Bexel is being merged with Vitec Videocom, and he will align the two organisations, strengthening still further the focus on the broadcast and professional video market which is a core element of the Vitec Group’s three market strategy.
Danilowicz formally takes up the role of divisional CEO on 1 August 2012.
