IABM to host manufacturers’ forum ahead of NAB

The International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers (IABM) will stage the Understanding Broadcast Buyers session on Saturday 9 April, just prior to the 2011 NAB Show. All marketing and sales executives of broadcasting equipment and services vendors are encouraged to attend the free workshop.

Clyde Smith, senior vice-president of global broadcast technology and standards for the Turner Broadcasting System, will be a featured speaker at the session, which is designed to give vendors new insight into the criteria buyers use to assess technology solutions.

The workshop will also include a presentation by the IABM’s director general, Peter White (pictured), regarding the latest market research findings from the IABM’s Global Market Study, quarterly financial index, and Broadcaster Survey conducted in the weeks prior to the NAB Show. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to share their views and ask questions during a floor discussion.

“This session will provide American-based manufacturers with a prime opportunity for networking and information gathering. Executives will be able to meet with one another and debate the issues they face when working with buyers — and they will also receive valuable market intelligence normally reserved for IABM members,” said White. “We strongly encourage technology vendors visiting NAB to attend, and we look forward to welcoming them.”

The workshop will take place from 4-5pm on 9 April in Room N236/N238 of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Space is limited, so vendors are encouraged to register as soon as possible by emailing their name, company, job title, and address to Elaine Bukiej at info@theiabm.org. Attendees will also receive an invitation to the IABM’s advance party, expected to bring together around 600 of the industry’s key executives for informal networking, scheduled for the same evening.
