Hungary’s TARR chooses Appear TV to deliver new multiscreen services30 September 2014
Hungarian multi-service operator TARR has chosen to deploy systems from Appear TV to increase channel capacity and power its new linear multiscreen services.
The upgrade to its offering saw TARR use Appear TV’s UniversalPicture Perfect Transcoding Hardware integrated into the XC5000 Video Processing Platform to deploy 24 new channels for multiscreen delivery. In addition new DVB-S/S2 satellite demodulators were added at its downlink site along with new Appear TV transcoding solutions to add additional broadcast channels to the TARR TV line-up. The installation was managed and integrated with existing TARR infrastructure by HFC Technics, an Appear TV business partner and broadcast systems integrator in Hungary.
“The launch of the new TARR Kft. multiscreen service and system upgrade enables us to continue to provide our consumers with access to our content on any device via innovative technology. We’ve been highly impressed with the performance and reliability of the Appear TV equipment we deployed for our SD and HD TV broadcast services two years ago, which made it easy to make the decision to choose Appear TV OTT/multiscreen solutions for our latest major service upgrade,” said János Tarr, CEO, TARR Kft.
“The high-density modern architecture of the Appear TV solutions enables us to operate more efficiently, save space and minimise our energy consumption. Saving energy is critical for us as we strive to play our part in an increasingly environmentally conscious world,” concluded Tarr.
A key feature of the platform is its ability to accommodate customers’ preferred system architectures while reducing complexity.
“Our latest deployment for TARR Kft. shows the flexibility and power of our expanding solution portfolio, with advanced DVB-S/S2 demodulators, multiscreen, OTT and transcoding solutions,” said Carl Walter Holst, CEO of Appear TV. “The flexibility and power of our solutions enables TARR to efficiently offer consumers high-quality multiscreen, OTT and TV services and at the same time minimise power consumption. We look forward to continuing to ensure that TARR entertains Hungary’s consumers with advanced and exciting new TV and entertainment services.”
