Realtime graphics specialists Moov and MST Systems used a networked Chyron graphics workflow to produce leader boards, captions and other information at the 2011 Open Golf Championships last month. Providing the service to host broadcaster BBC, the network used seven HyperX graphics systems on location at Royal St George’s.

“Live golf coverage demands perhaps the most diverse assortment of graphics, and this challenge is compounded by the high and constant volume of data being generated,” said Duncan Foot, managing director of Moov, which specialises in data-driven graphics. “This year we relied solely on Chyron HyperX, which not only provide the power required for rich 3D graphics, but offered the flexibility and interoperability necessary for our partner, MST Systems, to bring a variety of data into the graphics in real time.”
MST Systems is a specialist provider of timing and data collection and distribution for a range of sports, providing realtime data feeds for broadcast graphics amongst its deliverables. “MST’s ability to work quickly and confidently with the Chyron platforms eliminated the need to rebuild and recheck all our graphics, which in turn made for a much simpler and more pleasant tournament,” Foot added.
Stuart Paterson-Browne, software development manager at MST Systems, added: “Chyron on-air graphics systems are future-proof solutions that not only provide the power we need at an attractive price point, but also interface well with our own software to support delivery of high impact, data-rich graphics.”
