Affordable UHD delivery from Blackmagic6 September 2016
Blackmagic Design is coming to IBC with a large product lineup including its recently launched Blackmagic Duplicator 4K. The device allows delivery of UHD content to consumers by recording files onto inexpensive SD cards that can be distributed to customers the moment an event is finished – potentially increasing a content distributor’s revenue.
“Virtually all televisions sold are now UHD models,” said Blackmagic CEO Grant Petty. “The problem for consumers is that there’s very little content available. [Duplicator 4K] is an extremely affordable and convenient way to deliver UHD content directly to consumers that they can play on their UHD televisions today.”
The technology includes 25 built-in SD card recorders, multi rate 12G-SDI connections and a realtime H.265 encoder.
The company’s DaVinci Resolve version 12.5 editing and colour correction software has also been getting a lot of attention and will be at IBC.
The company reported that it includes 1,000 enhancements and 250 new features which includes major additions to its growing editing toolset (including new trim operations, ripple cut and paste insert commands), as well as new colour tools such as improved HDR support and new effects.
The Blackmagic stand will also have the latest versions of its Fusion visual effects and motion graphics tool, ATEM production switchers, Teranex processors, HyperDeck SSD recorders, Cintel film scanner, as well as cameras, playback technologies and routers.
