FreeCaster streams EC conference worldwide with KulaByte19 December 2011
Last week’s European Development Days (EDD) conference from the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw was broadcast worldwide by FreeCaster.tv via 36 simultaneous internet video streams using Haivision’s KulaByte encoders, writes David Fox.
FreeCaster streamed the output from three different conference rooms in four languages and at three bit rates for delivery to Flash-enabled computers and mobile devices.
"We have been counting on KulaByte for our internet streaming for a number of years and have produced thousands of event streams," said Raymond Dulieu, founder of FreeCaster.tv.
"For internet video, KulaByte (pictured) offers unmatched picture quality at any given bit rate. We have also quite effectively used the HyperStream Cloud Transcoding technology to derive maximum efficiency from our uplink bandwidth by sending a single optimized stream from the source to transcoders in the cloud, where computing power and bandwidth are abundant."
Based in Belgium, FreeCaster.tv produces live internet streaming events, such as sports, fashion shows, conferences, and concerts. The company has been a web streaming since 2004, and won an Apple Design Award for Best QuickTime Content for Entertainment.
Organized by the European Commission and the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, EDD is Europe’s premier forum on international affairs and development cooperation.
