Fox News ceases UK broadcast

Company says it was not generating enough viewers or revenue

After 15 years broadcasting in the UK, 21st Century Fox has announced it is dropping Fox News from the Sky platform.

The company said the decision has been taken because the channel has very little viewership and was not making enough money.

“[21st Century Fox] has decided to cease providing a feed of Fox News Channel in the UK,” the company said in a statement.

“Fox News is focused on the US market and is designed for a US audience and, accordingly, it averages only a few thousand viewers across the day in the UK. We have concluded that it is not in our commercial interest to continue providing Fox News in the UK.”

The decision to remove the channel in the UK comes as Fox awaits a regulatory decision on its £11.7 billion takeover bid for the 61 per cent of Sky it doesn’t own.
