Eurosport has taken its first step into the premium sports market after penning a four-year deal to exclusively broadcast Bundesliga matches.

The broadcaster has reached an agreement with the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga to air the regular Friday night primetime, selected Sunday afternoon and top Monday night Bundesliga matches from the start of the 2017/18 season.

Eurosport will present 40 live Bundesliga matches per season, as well as providing non-exclusive coverage of the DFL-Supercup and the four relegation matches.

Matches will also be available live on Eurosport Player.

Peter Hutton, Eurosport CEO, said, “When you consider our goal is to secure more must-have and highly relevant sport content, Bundesliga rights within Germany and the Olympic Games across the continent are at the very top of the pyramid.

“We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with the DFL and showcasing football to the highest standards for fans in Germany.”

Eurosport already broadcasts a range of football programming in Germany, including the weekly Kicker.tv Der Talk show.
