eircom chooses Farncombe to support eVision launch

Irish telco eircom has selected Farncombe to provide operational advisory services for the creation, development and launch of its fibre-based TV platform, eVision.

Farncombe provided a strategic review of eircombe’s technology strategy and requirements and recommended which technologies and solutions should be adopted. The company detailed the specification of the TV service platform features and provided support for the RFP process and supplier selection, as well as holding responsibility for content security and programme management.

“The launch of our new platform is the culmination of a huge effort across the business,” commented David Thatcher, director of TV at eircom. “From the outset we partnered with Farncombe to ensure we designed and delivered quality products and services that are relevant and offer real value to our customers. Farncombe’s services and insight have been invaluable in meeting our goals.”

Over the past six months, Farncombe has worked with eircombe to design, implement and manage a three-phase pre-launch trial programme. Each trial phase gave the telco insight into consumers’ feelings about using eVision in their homes.

Farncombe managing partner Dr Stephen Upton (pictured), who led the Farncombe team delivering the project to eircom, described the new service as a “Pioneering project for Ireland.” He added: “We have formed an excellent, multi-faceted relationship with the eircom team, and we look forward to continuing to support the team as the service evolves in the future.”
