DVB World 2012: initial details emerge3 November 2011
A preliminary programme has been released for DVB World 2012, which will take place between 12 and 14 March at Crowne Plaza St. Peters Hotel (pictured), Rome.
The largest annual gathering dedicated to DVB standards, services and technology, DVB World typically attracts more than 200 delegates from around the world. The event offers a valuable opportunity to find out more about the latest DVB-related developments, with a special emphasis on useful information and informed analysis rather than commercial pitches.
Reflecting the analogue TV switch-off due to take place in many European nations next year, the worldwide deployment of DVB-T and DVB-T2 will constitute a major theme of the 2012 event. The efficiency of the DVB standards’ development process, spectrum efficiency and energy efficiency will also feature prominently in the schedule.
Flagship session topics will include multi-room and multi-screen TV, video over mobile networks, analogue satellite switch-off, DVB in Singapore and DVB in Italy. DVB Today sessions will address DVB-T2 in Africa, Sweden and mobile/portable applications, as well as CI Plus v.14, DVB-3DTV and the hybrid TV landscape. The spectrum session will feature technological perspectives from regulators, telecoms and consumer electronics/perspectives, while the green future session will address the regulatory landscape, the carbon footprint of mobile phones, and energy/spectrum efficient transmitters and receivers – among other topics. There will also be a pre-conference masterclass on UHDTV and 3DTV from the EBU’s David Wood.
