Danmon buys ATG Broadcast

UK-based international system integrator ATG Broadcast Ltd has been acquired by Scandinavian broadcast systems specialist, Danmon Systems A/S.

Formed in 1993, ATG expanded from an initial staff of three to the current 15. The company has provided systems for many major broadcasters and independent facilities, starting with traditional tape-based installations in the early days and migrating to workflow based digital production and transmission systems in recent years.

ATG Broadcast will continue to operate under its current name from its established headquarters in Letchworth, Hertfordshire. Graham Buchanan and Alan Pimm continue as managing director and sales director respectively, while Neil Reed will become MD of Custom Consoles Ltd. Custom Consoles is not included in the acquisition and will now operate as a completely separate independent company.

Danmon is a subsidiary of Dan Technologies A/S, and so as well as Danmon Systems Group A/S Managing Director Henning Br_nnum joining the board of ATG, so too does Dan Technologies A/S CEO Ole Clausen.

“This is a very healthy development both for Danmon Systems Group and ATG,” Henning Br_nnum commented. “We are delighted by the successful completion of negotiations. The combination of Danmon in Scandinavia and ATG Broadcast in the UK, mainland Europe and Asia Pacific regions will enable both companies to benefit from mutual experience and shared commercial strength.”

“The two companies operate in very similar ways, and work closely with customers in order to deliver successful projects,” added Buchanan. “We are looking forward to expanding the company to meet increased demand.”

“The broadcast industry has changed and is now based around a number of large corporate groups,” said ATG’s Pimm. “Typical future requirements demand high investment over extended periods. The system integration industry needs to adapt to support these changing requirements adequately. This new partnership will strengthen our relationship with existing clients and enable us to offer turnkey solutions to the largest media groups.”
