Cyfrowy Polsat expands with Harris

22 February 2007

Cyfrowy Polsat, Poland’s leading digital television platform, has ordered the first Harris Nexio XS broadcast server system in the region, along with a range of high definition Harris products and systems, to expand its broadcast playout centre, writes Andy Stout.

Cyfrowy Polsat full shopping list included the Nexio XS SD/HD server, the Harris Platinum router and the H-Class D-Series Playout Automation system, adding 12 channels to Cyfrowy Polsat’s playout facility in Warsaw, Poland. The deal was handled by JBD, Harris Corporation’s reseller in Poland.

Already the largest playout centre in Poland, Cyfrowy Polsat is an existing Harris automation customer running eight of its digital channels on the H-Class ADC Playout Automation platform. Phase two of this facility expansion will allow all 20 channels to migrate across to the D-Series Playout Automation system.

“We chose the Nexio XS server platform as it is a proven technology that seamlessly integrates with our existing ADC installation and the new D-Series Playout Automation system to provide a workflow solution that meets our transmission needs,” said Marcin Bukowski, vice technical director at Cyfrowy Polsat. “Not only is Nexio a reliable and robust server ideally suited to our mission-critical transmission application, but it is scalable enough to allow expansion as and when our business requirements demand it.”
