Correction: Panasonic and DVCPRO HD10 January 2008
Following the ‘Solid state of the art’ feature in last month’s print edition of TVB Europe, Panasonic’s Marc Irwin has been in contact to correct the statement that DVCPRO HD is being replaced by AVC-I H.264. “Please be aware this is not the case and never has been,” he said. “Panasonic has both codecs at the disposal of producers in the current range of P2 camcorders.
“DVCPRO HD is still and will remain a vital format in the production and broadcast industry as it is time-tested and well accepted throughout Europe and the world and we have no plans to discontinue supporting this format. AVC-I in 50 and 100 MBPS is offered as an alternative to DVCPRO HD, not instead of.”
