BVE announces first speakers

First raft of speakers confirmed ahead of 2017 event

BVE has confirmed its first raft of speakers for its 2017 event at ExCeL London. The list includes actor, director and writer Dexter Fletcher, DPP managing director Mark Harrison, and Game of Thrones location manager Robert Boake, with more to be announced in the coming weeks.

Fletcher is known for his work with Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Eddie the Eagle, Wild Bill and Dead Cert, and will be making an appearance at ‘The Screen @ BVE’ when the event takes place from 28 February to 2 March.

‘The Screen @ BVE’ will also welcome Mark Harrison, managing director of the Digital Production Partnership (DPP), and Ian Moore, content director at the LAD Bible.

Tristan Oliver, director of photography with credits including Chicken Run, The Fantastic Mr Fox and ParaNorman, will take stage in the cinematography theatre.

A cinematographer for 26 years, Oliver’s long collaboration with director Nick Park includes Academy award winners, Wrong Trousers, A Close Shave and Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

A member of AMPAS and BAFTA, Oliver has sat on the BAFTA Film and Children’s committees with responsibility for children’s and family film.

Award-winning cinematographer Jonathan Harrison will also take centre stage in the cinematography theatre. Harrison has spent 18 years as a freelancer, undertaking a wide spectrum of national and international projects from technical and scientific, aerial, special effects and in-depth personal documentary to drama and commercials. He shoots regularly for all major UK TV channels.

Three speakers have already been confirmed to make an appearance at the BVE 2017 production theatre – Game of Thrones location manager Robert Boake, Rebecca O’Brien, producer at Sixteen Films, and Mark Herbert, producer and joint-CEO of Warp Films.

Boake has ten years’ experience working on a vast range of productions and genres, providing creative scouting, location management and supervision. He is best known for his for work finding locations for Game of Thrones, for which he won a LMGA Award in 2014, for ‘Outstanding Achievement by Location Professional’.

O’Brien has been an independent film producer for 30 years, producing 17 feature films directed by Ken Loach, including Land and Freedom, Sweet Sixteen and Looking for Eric. She is currently on the boards of the European Film Academy and PACT and is a member of the British Screen Advisory Council.

Herbert’s credits include Submarine, Four Lions, This Is England and Phoenix Nights and Dead Man’s Shoes.
