Bet Play to launch in 100 countries

Viacom is launching Bet Play as a standalone online streaming service.

Available on both iOS and Android devices, the black culture channel will become Viacom’s first direct-to-consumer offering.

Play will offer access to Bet’s award shows, plus current and classic TV series, documentaries, stand-up comedy specials, entertainment news and musical performances.

The service will launch with a seven-day free trial before offering full subscription cost of $3.99 per month.

It will deliver 280 episodes at launch including Being Mary Jane and Kevin Hart’s Real Husbands of Hollywood.

“The launch of Bet Play significantly expands the brand’s geographic availability by making it available direct to consumer in many markets where it has not previously had an established presence on TV,” said Michael Armstrong, executive vice president and general manager of international brand development, Viacom.
