Barco multiviewer targets broadcasters

28 March 2008

Barco is planning to launch a new multiviewer targeted at broadcasters, OB van companies, post production and distribution companies in Vegas. Perhaps bigger news, however, will be a still secret monitor that the company says ‘redefines the market standard of quality monitoring’.

Barco will also be busy previewing the NGS105, a multi-image display for the Networked Broadcast Monitor System. As part of the NBMS, the NGS-105 captures high-resolution computer imagery, encodes them in JPEG2000, and streams them out over a Gigabit Ethernet network. The board is capable of encoding up to eight input signals and can support both single-link and dual-link digital DVI connections with encoding framerates up to 60fps.

With the OVF-7 series Barco presents the front access version of its next-generation rear-projection system OV-D2. This system requires minimal installation depth and thanks to the front access it can easily be put against the wall. The second generation OV-D2 again raises the bar for colour and brightness uniformity across large-size displays. The OV-D2 series combines DLP technology with Barco’s Sense6 technology. Sense6 increases colour and brightness uniformity up into the corners of each video module. On top of that, it adjusts the entire video wall to the same colour and brightness level and keeps it equal over time.
