BADR-7 capabilities highlighted

Launched shortly after IBC2015 closed its doors, BADR-7 is Arabsat’s newest satellite and is positioned at 26 degrees east. It increases the number of Arabsat’s satellites at this hot spot orbital position to four active satellites, reinforcing Arabsat’s claim that it is the leading satellite services provider in the Arab world.

Established 40 years ago, the company carries over 500 TV channels, 200 radio stations, pay-TV networks and wide variety of HD channels reaching tens of millions of homes in more than 80 countries across the Middle East, Africa and Europe. An audience of more than 170 million viewers in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region alone tuned into Arabsat’s video hotspot at 26°E.

“IBC provides us with the opportunity to showcase our new BADR-7 services,” said Eng./Khalid bin Ahmed Balkheyour, president and CEO of Arabsat, “as well as to discuss with visitors the many agreements we have recently signed with important and specialised satellite TV channels and networks.”

Operating a growing fleet of owned satellites at 20°E, 26°E, 30.5°E, 39°E and 44.5°E, Arabsat claims to be the only satellite operator in the MENA region offering the full spectrum of broadcast, telecommunications and broadband services.
