Avid launches new products and Customer Association19 September 2013
Avid introduced new products at last week’s IBC in Amsterdam as well as a Customer Association of industry leaders.
Among the new hardware releases was the Avid S6, a new control surface for sound mixing, recording and editing. The system is built on the same technology used for its ICON and System 5 product families. It will be available in Q4.
Avid also unwrapped ISIS 5500, an online shared storage system aimed at small- to mid-sized post production, broadcast, education and corporate facilities.
ISIS 5500, the successor to ISIS 5000, is backward-compatible with existing ISIS systems, and offers a new 64-terabyte engine that doubles the storage capacity at the same price point as the ISIS 5000 32 TB system. It will be available this month for £19,400. Avid will continue to offer a 32TB system at a 25% reduced rate.
The Avid Customer Association was created to expand collaboration with industry leaders and deepen customer relationships. Founding members of the executive board represent major media organisations from the Americas, Europe and Asia and include Andreas Bereczky of ZDF, Dany Harrison of CBC/Radio-Canada, Fred Mattocks of CBC/Radio-Canada, Frank Governale of CBS News, Ding Wenhua of CCTV, and Paul Stevenson of ITV.
Also at IBC, Avid released a white paper about its Avid Everywhere strategy for the industry, which is centred on connecting creative talent and media organisations with their audiences.
