Atomos updates firmware

AtomOS 3.0 is now available for download. This firmware update adds functionality to Atomos‘ 10-bit Samurai field recorder, at no extra cost. "We are extremely proud of the AtomOS 3.0 software. It adds great new functionality and is the direct result of feedback from our growing customer base," said Jeromy Young, CEO and founder of Atomos. "It’s an important milestone in our mission to design production tools that significantly change the way people work, by saving them both time and money." SmartMonitor turns the Samurai into a monitoring solution, with Peaking, Zebra, False Color and Blue Only functionality. SmartLog is a feature that allows pre-editing and keyword tagging on set, on location or on the move. AtomOS 3.0 includes XML support for Final Cut X. SmartControl was designed specifically for use in James Cameron’s Deep Sea Challenge. It allows start/stop/pause to be triggered on any number of Samurais, interconnected via their LANC port, from any computer. Other new enhancements include automatic file recovery in the event of power failure, auto-record when an input is detected, Loop Playback and iPhone/iPad/Mac/PC recording support.
