AmberFin leads with DPP-specific ingest tools

With the Digital Production Partnership initiative now widely recognised as a preferred means of delivering media files, AmberFin has introduced file-based media ingest and transcode products that support it. The company describes them as “competitively priced” and the market’s first products, and has aimed them at everyone in the content delivery chain: producers, broadcasters, sports organisations and post production facilities. Part of the iCR family, the new devices are a media ingest workstation and a transcoder. They are designed specifically to create high-quality, MXF-wrapped AVC-Intra or D10 assets which are fully compliant with the AMWA AS-11 specification and the DPP guidelines. Available as standalone workstations or scalable enterprise solutions, they are designed for easy integration and are supplied with extensible APIs. They are part of AmberFin’s Unified QC approach, incorporating automated and manual quality control. The DPP is a UK industry collaboration led by all the main broadcasters to help them share best practice in digital production, and to simplify content exchange through the standardisation of technical and metadata requirements. “AmberFin has been a strong supporter of the DPP initiative because it supports open standards interoperability, which dovetails neatly with our strategic development goals,” said Bruce Devlin, the company’s CTO. “DPP has been successful in establishing a roadmap in digital production in the UK, and these new DPP-compliant AmberFin products will, for the first time, provide broadcasters and content owners with efficient, targeted and cost-effective production tools.”
