Air adopts Avid workflows19 July 2013
Air Post Production, in east London, is one of the first facilities in the world to implement the Avid Interplay Production Facility Package, launched at NAB in April. The system aims to provide an integrated and seamless workflow, enabling greater collaboration and so faster delivery of the finished content.
As well as interconnecting Avid Media Composer and Avid Symphony seats, the installation at Air includes Interplay asset management and an Isis shared storage array. The system also adds the new Avid Sphere remote editing software. Allowing clients to connect in to the system from their own locations is seen as part of meeting today’s expectations.
“We pride ourselves on being workflow innovators,” said Ed Spencer of Air Post Production. “We are about designing workflows around our projects, not fitting projects into our workflows, so this was the most innovative and cost-effective choice for us.
“It means our Pro Tools and Media Composer suites are fully integrated with Interplay Production and backed by a solid and reliable storage solution,” he added. “The functionalities will dramatically speed up our clients’ productivity and enable us to service our projects more efficiently.”
The system was designed and sold by Avid reseller Altered Images. Installation was completed in less than two weeks in June. “The installation process was very smooth and did not disrupt our workload,” according to Spencer. “In fact, the 6TB data migration of our work in progress to the Isis 5000 only took 27 hours, which was extremely impressive as we were then up and running.”
